BALLVILLE VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT
Ballville Volunteer Fire Department was established in 1957. The privately owned department serves mainly Ballville Township, but has mutual aid agreements with all Sandusky County Fire Departments. The services they provide:
Fire and rescue services
Structural collapse services
Swift water and ice rescue services
Trench rescue services
Confined space services
The mission of the Ballville Township Volunteer Fire Department is to provide the best possible support in any emergency and non-emergency situation to the citizens that are entrusted to our care.
The Ballville Township Volunteer Fire Department will strive to become the best trained and equipped volunteer fire department in the county. Through extensive member training, the purchasing of state of the art equipment, and a staff of dedicated individuals, we plan on achieving this goal. We will answer the call for need in the most professional manner foreseeable no matter where, when, who, or why. We also will always value the community that supports us in every possible way so long as the ability is there. To be a member of the Ballville Township Volunteer Fire Department, will be to act and live as a leader and a role model to everyone.

The department has a fire safety trailer that serves as a portable classroom for teaching fire safety. They currently have 26 members and 4 members are EMT’s, 2 are Paramedics, and 11 are first responders. Officers of the Fire Department include Chief Doug Crowell Sr., Asst. Chief Bill Lagrou, Captain Mark Montgomery, 1st Lieutenant Scott Goodwin, 2nd Lieutenant Doug Crowell, Jr., 3rd Lieutenant Craig Crowell, and Safety Officer Corey Hessick. There are also 5 members that are fire inspectors. In addition, 12 members are Fire (2) trained (256 hours), 11 members are Fire (1) trained (136 hours), 3 members are 36 hours trained, 3 are haz-mat trained techs and 19 are haz-mat trained opps.
